'Shutter' a disappointing frightener

Director: Masayuki Ochiai

Cast: Joshua Jackson, David Denman, Rachel Taylor

Cert: 16

A Stateside remake of another much better Far East horror, and a totally unnecessary and disappointing frightener it turns out to be.

Jackson and Taylor play newlyweds who head for Japan to further his career as a photographer, who happens to snap things he didn’t bargain for … ghosts from his past.

In the end you get the feeling that everybody connected with the film realised it was a turkey and gave up the uneven struggle to make it even semi-convincing.

It simply doesn’t work on any level.
