Plot sacrificed for F/X in 'Speed Racer'

One for the kiddies, and for those who can’t live a second without the sound of a snarling bike … just don’t expect a film that tells a story that can be believed.

There are some good moments, to be sure, but not enough of them since the Brothers have clearly opted for action and F/X and decided to let a strong cast fend for itself.

What plot there is involves a lot of careless driving and corruption on the racing circuit … the original cartoon characters had more depth.
