Law mangles another Caine classic
Michael Caine, who starred in the original, and Jude Law — patently out of his depth here — star in Sleuth (Paramount; €24.99).
Anyone who saw the original thriller co-starring Laurence Olivier — coincidentally released at the same time — should stick with that version rather than this dull copy.
Law has already mangled another Caine classic, Alfie, so quite why Sir Michael got involved in this escapes me.
Andrew Wyke (Caine) and Milo Tindle (Law) discover they share a woman and engage in an escalating duel of one-upmanship. Not even director Kenneth Branagh can hold this together.
