'Martian Child' has a lot going for it

Saccharine stuff it may be, but Martian Child (EIV; €24.99) has a lot going for it.

John Cusack plays science fiction writer David Gordon, who is considering adopting Dennis (Bobby Coleman), a young boy convinced he’s from Mars.

It occasionally wallows in sentimentality, but is rescued by great acting from the leads.
