Carey compares marriage to kidnapping
Mariah Carey has likened her failed marriage to music mogul Tommy Mottola to a "kidnapping", insisting she was trapped in a doomed relationship.
The singer wed Mottola - the former Sony label boss credited with discovering her - in 1993, but the couple split four years later and divorced in 1998.
And Carey, who was 23 when the pair wed, admits the marriage was one of her biggest mistakes.
She says: "I think one of my mistakes was getting married so young. I got married to Tommy Mottola under a lot of pressure.
"I don't know how you would describe my marriage. It was a kidnapping in a golden cage."
