Lack of pace and direction in 'Flashbacks of a Fool'

Director: Baillie Walsh

Cast: Daniel Craig, Clare Forlani, Felicity Jones

Whatever the success of his Bond debut, the jury remains undecided about Craig in non-007 roles.

It doesn't help his case here that the writing and directing is, well, directionless.

Craig plays a struggling actor who receives word that his boyhood friend has died and he returns home for the funeral.

Cue flashbacks sort-of revealing how they became friends … sort-of in as much as they don't.

Somehow the drive and pace – the purpose even – of the film isn't developed and though it looks good it’s empty of emotion and devoid of strong links holding it together.
