'Happy-Go-Lucky' a real gem

Director Leigh, famous for his unstructured impro films, comes up with another gem in teacher Poppy - wonderfully played by Hawkins - who sails through life sprinkling it with optimistic goodness and light. A real can-do girl.

It helps that Hawkins is in such fine form since the storyline revolves almost totally around her, there isn’t much else going on.

But what there is in this highly watchable film is a brightness and chirpiness that catches and holds the attention.
