Winehouse axed from US gig

British singer Amy Winehouse has suffered a major blow in her bid to conquer America after the organisers of a US charity event axed her performance.

The troubled 24-year-old was due to sing at a New York gala next month and had even been granted a business visa to travel to the US - unlike in February when she couldn't pick up her five Grammy Awards in Los Angeles because the document wasn't granted until the last minute.
