One of TV’s best western mini series
Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones play two rangers who make an epic cattle drive from Texas to Montana in one of TV’s best western mini series.
The 3,000-mile journey naturally produces lots of action in classic cowboy setting, but it’s the richness of the dialogue, good direction and fine acting which lifts this above the more cliché-ridden western stereotypes.
Based on Larry McMurtry’s Pulitzer-prize winning novel, Lonesome Dove (Acorn, €29.50) runs to 357 spell-binding minutes, with a terrific supporting cast including Danny Glover, Diane Lane and Steve Buscemi.
