Farrell returning home
Coming Home
Following the success of his latest movie, In Bruges, Dubliner Colin Farrell will head home for his next … he starts work on 'Triage' for Bosnian helmer Danis Tanovic. First there’s a six-week shoot in Europe and then a four-week stay in Dublin.
There are also reports that Farrell could ultimately play Heathcliff in a big-screen version of the classic ‘Wuthering Heights’.
He is up against Sam Riley and Dominic Cooper, but the reckoning the Irish star would make the perfect Heathcliff.
Swede Treat
Kenneth Branagh will be joined by award-winning Tom Hiddleston for the making of the Sweden-based tec series featuring world-weary Kurt Wallander. Two of the popular novels start what producer-star Branagh plans to be a complete sweep of the Henning Mankell stories.
Book Deal
Irish writer Ken Bruen will see his wonderful crime novels on the big screen now that Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan has started work on London Boulevard.
Sad Return
Ballymena-born Liam Neeson made a sad return home at the week-end to attend the funeral of a close relative.
Lost Award
The death of Hollywood giant Charlton Heston once again raised the memory of one of the great Oscar injustices … Heston starred in 'Ben Hur' and collected one of the film’s 11 Academy Awards. But his co-star, Belfast’s Stephen Boyd, whose performance deserved a gong, lost out.
