Jodie Foster wants her children to join her in the movie business - but as directors instead of actors.

The actress insists she would never ban her two sons, Charles, nine, and Kit, six, from following in her footsteps - but she would rather they worked behind the camera, and she is already teaching them tricks of the trade.

Foster tells AOL movies: "If they begged and begged and begged (to act), I would understand. I try to get them interested in the technical side of filmmaking.

"I say: 'I wonder how they did that. Do you think they did it with a blue screen?'

"I try to get them interested in lenses or just de-mystifying it (filmmaking) a little bit for them. It's a beautiful business. I want them to love films, but I want them to be on the side of it that I think, in some ways, can be the most rewarding."
