'Awake' fails to deliver on promise

A horror story that, given its blood-chilling premise, should have been a lot better … though decent performances do manage to keep it sort-of afloat.

Christensen plays a man in all our worst nightmares: he’s undergoing a major heart operation but he’s still conscious and feeling every cut and tweak at the hands of his supposed doctor pal (Howard).

Only the doc isn’t as friendly as he seems, since he has evil in mind.

There are times when the film promises to be good but they aren’t sustained.
