Stones asked Scorsese to film Rio show

The Rolling Stones attempted to persuade moviemaker Martin Scorsese to film their historic 2006 free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - but he wasn't interested.

The director was the man behind the camera for the Stones' new concert film 'Shine A Light', but he had no desire to shoot the group performing for almost a million people on Copacabana Beach.

Frontman Mick Jagger recalls: "I asked Martin if he'd like to shoot that concert, because I thought that concert was going to look amazing.

"He came in and we pitched him the idea and he didn't like it. He said, 'My real talent is to do intimacy.'"
