Harrelson plans tough starvation retreat

Woody Harrelson is planning a strict starvation retreat on a remote Hawaiian island.

The actor hopes to take time out from his acting career to live on nothing but spring water for 40 days.

He explains: "I'm going to go to a small island in Hawaii, a really remote place, and drink the water right from the stream and then consume nothing else for 40 days.

"I've always wanted to do it… I don't take it lightly. I know it's gonna be hard."

Harrelson refuses to name the remote location where his fasting will take place - because the area is only known to native Hawaiians.

The movie star has lived on Maui with his partner and their kids for the past eight years.
