‘American Gangster’ an engrossing epic

Denzel Washington turns in another amazing performance in ‘American Gangster’ (Universal, €24.99), this time as Harlem drugs boss Frank Lucas, whose highly profitable operations are threatened by Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe), a cop determined to end his operation.

This engrossing epic comes in a single and double edition, both featuring the original cinema cut and an extended edition with director and writer commentary.

The double disc edition includes some excellent features, including an in-depth look at the real Frank Lucas, plus deleted scenes (one of them an alternative opening).
