Unfocused storyline in 'The Cottage'

Another horror and not one to live long in the memory since it doesn’t seem certain what sort of film it wants to be: horror or comedy.

The plot involves two dim brothers kidnapping the step-daughter (Ellison) of a gang boss and, in turn, being terrorized by a psycho farmer bent on bloody slaughter.

Alas, the storyline fails to focus itself on any central theme, the directing is all over the place and the acting merely adequate.

Even the "horrifying" bits fail to jolt.
