Day-Lewis will sweep you away with There Will Be Blood
There Will Be Blood

And the winner is: Daniel Day-Lewis!
The easiest prediction for a Best Actor Oscar in decades, though surprisingly this epic tale of oil and obsession didn’t also get the Best Picture or Best Director awards.
Still, this is a truly monumental work of art and Day-Lewis towers over it with quite one of the most impressive performances in cinema history as a man whose real quest in life is driven to the limits by greed, there is nothing else in his life worth considering.
Set in the early 1900s, this is also a clever and meaningful swipe at America’s attitude to the rest of the world.
A film of vast and terrible beauty, and a central performance that sweeps you away.
