No support for Kidman in Margot at the Wedding

There’s a half decent story hiding in here somewhere but it never manages to find a way out.

There’s a half decent story hiding in here somewhere – the days in the life of a dysfunctional family leading up to the wedding of one of the sisters (Leigh) – but it never manages to find a way out.

Kidman plays Margot, a lady with a tongue in her nasty head, a separation from a husband (Turturro) and a lover (Hinds), who arrives with the sort-of intention of making peace with her sister.

The trouble is that Margot isn’t a nice enough character to enlist our support, nor the story interesting enough to sustain our attention.
