Mortensen steals the show in ‘Eastern Promises’

David Cronenberg’s ‘Eastern Promises’ (Pathé, €24.99) is a chilling thriller, with Viggo Mortensen playing Nikolai, an enigmatic driver-turned-killer for an east European crime lord.

Enter midwife Anna Khitrova (Naomi Watts), who is determined to track down the family of a teenage mum who died while giving birth.

She eventually meets Nikolai and his violent pal Kirill (Vincent Cassel) — then the trouble starts.

Mortensen as usual steals the show.
