‘Once’ hits all the right notes
Fresh from its Oscar song nomination, John Carney’s ‘Once’ (Icon, €24.99) brings together the excellent talents of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová in a delightful musical.
Hansard, lead singer of The Frames, plays a busker lacking in confidence, and Irglová a new immigrant who helps them both find their musical way.
Once hits all the right notes, thanks not just to some terrific songs, but also the acting.
Carney, Hansard and Irglová provide an entertaining audio commentary.
