My Blueberry Nights

Director: Kar Wai Wong

Cast: Norah Jones, Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, Jude Law, David Strathairn

Cert: 12

A chat with Jude Law might well induce a young woman to take to the road – yes, he’s turned up in another clunker – but here it’s in aid of a movie.

Jones, making an impressive contribution, has been two-timed by her boyfriend and her chats with NYC café boss Law inspire her to hit the bricks in search of herself, meeting along the way the usual motley crew of misfits and odd-balls.

Strathairn is as consistently impressive as he always is, Portman is terrific but it’s surprising that a road film manages to go nowhere … except away from Law.

Star Rating: 2/5
