Stars turn out for Dublin Film Festival
Oscar hopeful Daniel Day Lewis and Colin Farrell will be among the stars attending the Jameson International Film Festival in Dublin, which opens today.
The event will screen 100 features from 33 countries and attract more than 40,000 people over 10 days.
The Festival launches with the Irish premiere of 'In Bruges' which stars Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.
Irish actor Stuart Townsend will present his directorial debut, 'Battle in Seattle', tomorrow with his partner Charlize Theron.
The film depicts the riots that confronted the World Trade Organisation’s 1999 meeting in Seattle.
Later that evening, Oscar hopefuls Day Lewis and Paul Thomas Anderson will be in Dublin for 'There Will Be Blood'.
Day Lewis, who lives in Co Wicklow, has already won a Golden Globe and a Bafta for his portrayal of a ruthless oil baron.
The list of international directors presenting new films at the Festival include Csaba Bollok with Iska’s Journey and Philippe Aractingi with 'Under The Bombs'.
Other guests include musician Liam O’Maonlai who will introduce the world premiere of his African music film 'Dambe – The Mali Project'.
The Festival, which runs until February 24, is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, the Irish Film Board and Dublin City Council.
