Cher has opened up about her lifelong battle with depression.

The singer admits she has struggled with the illness for decades, and hints her decision to come out of singing retirement to take on a three-year Las Vegas residency is a bid to keep her depression at bay.

In a candid interview that aired on US TV show Good Morning America on Thursday, Cher, 61, revealed: "When you have depression, sometimes you feel like you're completely alone. But work helps me. I enjoy the work. It keeps you moving. It keeps you around people." (IG/WNVGM/MT)
