Farrelly Brothers' lose their humour in 'Heartbreak Kid'
The Farrelly Brothers’ 'Heartbreak Kid' (Paramount, €24.99) fails to reach the usual heights, stumbling along with a pretty average caper, although the plot seems promising enough.
Eddie (Ben Stiller) is one of life’s luckless guys, badgered by dad (Stiller’s real dad Jerry) to settle down. Unfortunately, when he does rouse himself, Eddie jumps into marriage, and ends up on honeymoon with a wife who’s a real horror, which is when he also falls for the lovely Miranda (Michelle Monaghan).
Will Eddie find true love? Well, despite the Farrellys’ efforts we truly don’t care by the end as the humour arrives in such slow motion. None of the great gags we have been used to from the likes of 'There’s Something About Mary', just an occasional chuckle or two.
Expect a host of extras, including directors commentary, gag reel, deleted scenes, etc.
