Cloverfield

Director: Matt Reeves

Cast: Michael Stahl-David, Lizzy Caplan, Mike Vogel, Jessica Lucas

Cert: 15

A return to the docu style that was first brought to us in horrific splendour in The Blair Witch Project, though in this excellent horror with less believable results.

The Blair Witch could have happened, since this tells the story of something big and bad attacking Manhattan you have the doubts from the beginning.

But that, really, doesn’t matter since its shot on a stomach-churning camcorder as though it was all terribly real … OK, so maybe it IS real!

It’s great fun to sit through since it delivers plenty of white-knuckle moments and leaves you with plenty to think about. But do take some tummy tablets; the camerawork is of the wild rollercoaster kind.
