Doherty escapes with a caution for alleged paparazzo attack
British rocker Pete Doherty has been cautioned by police over an alleged attack on a photographer last year.
The Babyshambles frontman was cited for criminal damage on Sunday after appearing at Yeovil police station in south west England to answer allegations of assault relating to a scuffle with snapper Cath Mead in nearby Somerset in August.
Doherty is reported to have chased Mead into a shop after she photographed his then-girlfriend Irina Lazareanu. Mead escaped with minor injuries, but her camera was badly damaged.
However, police have decided Doherty - who at the time was on bail for previous drugs and driving offences - would not face further action for the incident, and released him with just a warning.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police says: "(Doherty) did report to Yeovil police station. A decision was taken that no further action would be taken after the assault.
"He was given a caution for the criminal damage to the camera."
