Troubled singer Britney Spears did not have a gun when she took her children hostage during a stand off with emergency services at her home.

The star sparked a major incident when she refused to hand over her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline on Thursday after a scheduled visit at her Beverly Hills, California, mansion.
