Minnelli to return to stage after collapse

American singer Liza Minnelli will perform again following a collapse on stage at a show in Sweden three weeks ago, her lawyer said.

The 61-year-old entertainer was doing fine and preparing for her next gig, Minnelli’s lawyer, Allen Arrow, said.

ā€œNot to worry,ā€ said Mr Arrow.

He would not elaborate on Minnelli’s health scare.

Mr Arrow said Minnelli was going back into rehearsals at the end of the week, and will resume her touring schedule on January 12 in Providence, Rhode Island.

The singer was performing in a Christmas show on December 12 in Goteborg, Sweden’s second-largest city, when she collapsed while walking offstage.

She flew to the United States the next day on the advice of doctors there.

ā€œShe was that sick,ā€ Mr Arrow said. ā€œYou wonder why she had the courage to get on the stage when she shouldn’t have.ā€

Minnelli, the daughter of Judy Garland, won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the 1972 film Cabaret.

She won an Emmy for the 1972 TV special Liza with a Z, and Tony Awards in 1974 and 1978.
