'OC' actress arrested in Hollywood

Actress Mischa Barton has been arrested for driving under the influence after being stopped in Hollywood.

Los Angeles police officials say the former star of 'The OC' was taken into custody at about 2.45am this morning after deputies saw her car straddling two lanes of traffic and failing to signal while making a turn.

The 21-year-old is being held in a West Hollywood jail on bail. She was arrested for investigation of misdemeanour driving under the influence and driving without a licence.

Calls to her manager and publicist were not immediately returned.

Barton played Marissa Cooper on 'The OC' from 2003 to 2006.

Barton has also appeared in several movies, including 'The Sixth Sense' and the upcoming 'Virgin Territory'.

In May, Barton was taken to hospital for two hours after an antibiotic she was taking interacted badly with alcohol.
