Oscar Peterson, whose early talent and speedy fingers made him one of the world’s best known jazz pianists, has died, it was reported today. He was 82.

Peterson died last night at his home in Mississauga, Ontario, from kidney failure, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation said.
