Farrell backs calls for extension of movie tax incentives
Hollywood actor Colin Farrell is backing calls for an extension and expansion of tax incentives for film-making in Ireland.
The film industry is currently calling on Finance Minister Brian Cowen to extend and improve Section 481 tax breaks in the upcoming budget.
Just €11m will be spent on making films in Ireland this year, compared to €100m in 2003.
The film industry says action is needed to reverse this decline.
Speaking at a charity event in Dublin today, Colin Farrell backed those calls, saying the Minister for Finance and Minister for the Arts should do more to support and promote the industry.
