Spice Girls defend lip-synching performance

The Spice Girls have defended lip-synching at last night's debut comeback performance.

The band performed at a star-studded Victoria's Secret fashion show in Los Angeles.

Dressed in military clothes and with male dancers, the Spice Girls performed two songs, 'Stop' and their new track 'Headlines'.

The performance was recorded at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood for US broadcast on December 4.

It came as the Spice Girls' newly-released greatest hits album is being trounced by X Factor winner Leona Lewis in the charts.

A spokesman for the band, who are set to perform via video link tonight for BBC1's 'Children In Need', said: "The girls were never asked to perform live as their performance was recorded for the TV show.

"But rest assured, the girls will be fully live for their opening tour date on December 2."
