Mister Lonely a clever, bitter-sweet drama

To say that this off-centre film is Korine’s most mainstream effort doesn’t quite cover it, though it would be difficult to describe it in any other way. It’s a clever, bitter-sweet drama very much in his style … and this style always seems to be based on a free-wheeling approach to what eventually gets to the screen.

OK then, just sit back and go with the flow as Michael Jackson look-alike (Luna) meets Marilyn Monroe while working in Paris, travels with her to Scotland where they meet up with Charlie Chaplin and Shirley Temple in a sort of look-alikes commune … and you’re on your own from here on in.
