Dropped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, two American soldiers face the dilemma of what they believe in and why they’re where they are … while politicians back home play out their cynical games.

It’s a superior and thoughtful drama from that old liberal Redford who has a wonderful cast to work with: himself as the idealistic college professor, Streep as the world-weary journalist and Cruise as the self-seeking Republican senator.

The script is quite excellent, relying on the power of the spoken word rather than on out-and-out action, it’s reflective in its ability to get us to consider the nature of how to believe in something.
