Lily Allen to present new TV show

Singer Lily Allen has landed her own TV show.

'Lily Allen And Friends' will be broadcast on BBC3 next spring and will feature a mix of chat and music.

Her fans will be at the heart of the programme.

The 22-year-old found fame after building up her fanbase on MySpace, and the new show will be based on a similar social networking format.

Viewers will be invited to become Lily's virtual friends online and will then have a chance to shape the show - suggesting ideas, choosing bands to perform and putting questions to guests.

Each week some will be chosen to make up the studio audience.

Allen said: "I'm so excited that BBC3 are giving me this chance. It's something I intend to have lots of fun with and I have some great ideas for the show. Next year is going to be a brilliant year."

BBC bosses believe Allen has what it takes to be a major TV star.

"Lily is opinionated, funny and charming in equal measure. She's a very natural performer and will be a television star.

"I'm delighted that she's going to be one of the BBC's key entertainment faces," said Elaine Bedell, head of entertainment commissioning.

And BBC3 controller Danny Cohen said: "I'm delighted to welcome Lily to BBC3. She's one of the hottest acts around and an important voice of her generation.

"Lily Allen And Friends will have its own unique identity as the audience will be intrinsic to the show's content via social networking.

"Lily launched herself on the web and is the perfect host for this exciting new show."

The programme will be made by Princess Productions, the company behind Channel 4's Friday Night Project.

Allen's father, Keith Allen, is currently appearing on BBC1 as the Sheriff of Nottingham in 'Robin Hood'.
