Winehouse arrested in Norway

Singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested for drug possession.

Norwegian police said the 24-year-old Rehab singer was held overnight.

Winehouse is currently on tour and was due to perform in the city of Bergen tonight.

Her arrest came just days after she made her touring comeback in Berlin.

Critics said her performance in the German capital on Monday was shaky with the singer forgetting lines and almost tripping up on stage.

Prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe said Winehouse, her husband Blake Fielder-Civil and a third person were released at around 6am today after paying €500 in fines.

They were arrested shortly after 5pm at a hotel in Bergen in south west Norway after a tip to the police.

“They were found with seven grams of marijuana,” Lothe said.

“She’s paid the fine, so this thing is over for us now,” he said.

Winehouse is due to perform in Bergen tonight and in Oslo on Saturday, before she continues to the Netherlands on Monday as part of her European tour.

At times this summer the Londoner’s career appeared to be in freefall amid allegations of drug abuse, self harm and excessive drinking.

She had a spell in rehab in August. The official explanation was that she was resting but showbusiness sources said she was suffering the effects of drug abuse.

She had to cancel several concerts during the summer, including an appearance at two Rolling Stones gigs.

She also pulled out of the T in the Park festival and Liverpool’s Summer Pops event.

Despite the cancellations, the star was frequently photographed in pubs when she had been due on stage.

She made a comeback at the Mercury Music and Mobo awards ceremonies last month.

Her European tour ends in Manchester on December 13.
