Zombie's Halloween has no sense of terror

There seems – given the awfulness of this film – little point in re-working the John Carpenter cult horror classic. Nothing new has been brought to this feeble effort of blood-splattered gore, least of all any sense of terror.
The idea seems to be to show how the chief character came to be as he is, but since he’s just another evil slasher and since the cinema is full of them – and most of them much more strongly portrayed – we don’t really care.
Zombie – and, if it’s genuine, what a name for a horror flick director – just doesn’t manage anything worthwhile.
