Lennon's birthday marked with light tower

John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono will unveil a light tower in Iceland to mark the Beatles birthday next month.

Ono, 74, will travel to Reykjavik to reveal the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik on 9 October - Lennon's birthday.

She revealed she and Lennon spoke about creating a conceptual light sculpture in the 70s.

She says: "This is something that we spoke about 40 years ago. Our dream is finally coming true.

"He was visualizing then that it would probably become a reality one day. This is the biggest birthday present I gave to John. He's very, very happy about it, I know."

Lennon was shot dead in New York City aged 40 in 1980.
