Britney Spears will mark her pop comeback with a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, according to reports.

The singer has been in a creative wilderness since 2003, when her fourth studio album was released.

Since then, she has only released a greatest hits album and an LP of remixes - and become better known for her personal struggles.

But a US newspaper claims Spears has choreographed a comeback and will perform two songs - new single 'Gimme More' and another track 'Cry' - at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

Spears' dancer Ruben Dario told USA Today that the stage show will be choreographed by magician Criss Angel, who will set up mirrors to allow the Spears to appear and disappear.
