Highly praised drama worth a look

Recently released is This is England, a highly praised film about a young boy (Thomas Turgoose) growing up in north east England in the early ‘80s.

It’s one of the films included in the compilation This is Shane Meadows (Optimum, €44.99), together with revenge thriller Dead Man’s Shoes, TwentyFourSeven and A Room for Romeo Brass.

Meadows, whose work is usually set among Britain’s estates, has carved out a deserved reputation.

Helpfully, each title features a director’s commentary.
