D.H. Lawrence’s classic tale of love and lust given the French treatment, which leaves us merely to judge it on its own merits since we all know the story of the amorous lady, her disabled husband and the rough-hewn gardener who beds her as often as he does the shrubs.

It’s a film slow to get going but once it does it does what it says on the tin … delivers a solid rendition of the story.
