Hanks made vice president of Oscar academy

Two-times Oscar winner Tom Hanks has been elected as one of the vice presidents of America's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

AMPAS announced Hanks' appointment on Wednesday after he previously served as a governor of their actors branch.
