Slater to present Edinburgh top prize

Hollywood star Christian Slater is set to present the top prize at this year's Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.

The actor, who appeared at the prestigious comedy festival in 2004 in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, will award one of 350 shows on the bill the £8,000 (€11,788) comedy prize - formerly known as the Perrier award.

He says: "Having made my U.K. stage debut at the Fringe, I am delighted to be returning to Edinburgh."

Past winners of the gong include eminent British comics Steve Coogan, Lee Evans and The League Of Gentlemen's Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith.
