Final day of World Fleadh kicks off in Portlaoise
One of the country's biggest traditional music festivals will come to an end today.
The World Fleadh - which began in Portlaoise on Monday in Portlaoise - has featured more than 600 musicians throughout the past six days.
Katie Melua will headline the final day today, and all competitions and ceilis will also come to a close.
Other major acts have included Deacon Blue and the Proclaimers.
"We see this here in Portlaoise as a major event - there's a lively cultural and musical scene here in Portlaoise," said organiser Ian McCarmack.
"It's creating jobs, its stimulating economic growth and promoting tourism here in the county. And it's given us some national and international exposure, which is very positive for Laois," he said.
