Rocker Keith Richards' upcoming autobiography has sparked a multi-million publishing rights battle.

Bidding for The Rolling Stones star's life story has reached $7.1 m (€5.27m), according to publishing industry insiders.

HarperCollins and Little, Brown, are the major publishing houses vying for the book, according to NewYorkBusiness.com.

Richards has started work on his memoirs with long-time friend and author James Fox.
