Spice Girl Malanie Brown is planning to take her ex Eddie Murphy to court for child welfare payments - and has hired celebrity attorney Gloria Allred to fight her case.

The pop star recently voiced her disgust at her former flame's behaviour since he announced their break up on a Dutch TV show last year and denied fathering her then-unborn child.

Brown received paternity test results last month proving the Dreamgirls actor is the father of baby Angel Iris, and on Wednesday, the singer admitted she may have to resort to legal action to get him more involved in his daughter's upbringing.

The singer has already hired the services of Los Angeles-based Allred - a powerful lawyer known for her tough witness examinations - who is also presenting the sexual assault case against NYPD Blue actor Esai Morales.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail: "She (Brown) is expected to lobby Murphy for child support commensurate with his big income. If I were Murphy I would be nervous."
