'I am innocent': Lohan
Lindsay Lohan has spoken for the first time about her arrest for DUI, insisting she is innocent.
The 21-year-old was pulled over by police after she was reported for driving erratically through the streets of Santa Monica, California, in hot pursuit of a car being driven by the mother of an assistant, who quit on Monday.
She was arrested for drink driving and drug possession, but later released on $25,000 (€34,300) bail.
But the actress has protested her innocence, claiming the drugs did not belong to her.
In an email to Access Hollywood, Lohan writes, "I am innocent… did not do drugs they're not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin's mom. I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy."
Police have confirmed the former assistant's mother was the person who reported Lohan, calling authorities on her cellphone.
Lohan is due to appear at Beverly Hills court on 24 August - the same day she is expected to answer DUI charges from a separate incident in May.
It is believed Lohan is heading back to rehab just days after completing a lengthy stay at Promises in Malibu, California.
