Nicky evicted from BB house
Nicky Maxwell became the fifth person to be evicted from the Big Brother house this evening.
She lost to fellow nominee, gallery researcher Gerry Stergiopoulos, 31.
Nicky, 28, who received 76% of the votes cast, left behind 10 housemates in the Channel 4 reality show house.
The accounts executive, from Watford, looked shocked by the crowd’s boos, despite bookmakers giving her odds of 1/150 to lose the vote. Gerry, of south London, attracted odds of just 18/1.
Charley tried to reassure her, saying: “It was mixed for both you and Gerry.”
After hearing her name, Nicky whispered: “Oh my God.”
Tracey hugged her first as fellow housemates gathered around her.
Gerry began to cry, shouting: “It means I have one more week!”
Nicky left the Big Brother house to be greeted by host Davina McCall and the crowd outside.
It was the second time in a row that Nicky had been up for eviction.
Speaking to Gerry on Thursday evening about the looming eviction, Nicky said she had learned a lot about herself, and that she knew she had been “hurtful” while in the house.
But she said she was proud of herself, having done “a lot of things” in her life, and did not know whether to forgive people who had been nasty to her.
In a visit to the Diary Room later that night, Nicky said she coped with being nominated and was starting to really enjoy being in the house.
“The real me is coming out now,” she said.
She added that Gerry was not handling his possible eviction well.
She also said she would miss Tracey, whom she called a “real rock” and a friend she would definitely see outside the house. Tracey also said she would miss Nicky and their “chats”.
Outside the house, her family had said they hoped she would avoid eviction for a second week in a row.
Her aunt, Sandra Churchill, told The Sun: “From the bottom of my heart I’m asking all your readers to vote for Gerry.
“If anyone is thinking this is some sort of tactic – it’s not. It’s just that it would be great if I could have a bit more of a holiday.”
She added: “It’s been such a nice time since she’s been in Big Brother. It would be nice not to have her around for a while longer.”
But she had a few words in Nicky’s defence.
“People might think she’s completely miserable but that’s not the case. She can be funny and entertaining.”
