Thousands flock to Oxegen
Around 80,000 music fans are due to make the annual pilgrimage to Punchestown this weekend for the Oxegen festival.
More than 100 of the world’s top bands, artists and DJs will be performing.
Gardaí, road safety chiefs and festival organisers insisted revellers should take buses and trains laid on for the two-day concert because of the bad weather.
Services to the festival are being run by Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann, with a park and ride facility with shuttle service at Goffs.
Gardaí have put strict traffic diversions and parking restrictions in place throughout the weekend.
Fans can also catch this year’s event live on RTÉ 2 FM for the first time via a digital broadcast.
Practical tips on personal health and safety have also been issued for fans by the Irish Pharmaceutical Union (IPU).
