The diva was handed her accolade by President Nicholas Sarkozy at a formal ceremony held at the Elysee palace on Thursday, following a concert in Paris.

The induction is France's most prestigious civilian distinction.

Streisand's Tuesday night show at the Bercy venue was attended by 10,000 fans.
